Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

A few words for the wise: It's a good strategy to reduce first, then reuse and then recycle. It will help the planet and your budget.

Remember that little kids like pots and pans for musical instruments, flour and water for body paint, magazine cut-outs for mobiles. Keep it simple and enjoy! Your kids will enjoy your time more than your 'stuff'. Be forewarned, large plastic items quickly become too small for your child but too big for your home.

www.freecycle.org . This is a Yahoo group, you will have to subscribe. People post items that they don't need or would like to find. It's all free, no selling. A great way to find and unload lots of good material!

www.call2recycle.org lists collection sites (nationwide) for your rechargable batteries and cell phones! You can also recycle them at Home Depot, Sears and Lowe's.

www.wastecap.org click on the Recycling Services Directory (RSD) on the first page.
This is a useful website to help you responsibly dispose of toxic material (fiberglass insulation, adhesives, sealers) if you are doing renovation/repair work on your home. Or you can tell a contractor about this.
