I’m Robin Snyder-Drummond, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I help families with any of their breastfeeding concerns. The best part of my job is knowing families can relax and enjoy their baby.
I’m located in Ellsworth, Maine.
For over twenty five years, I met with families during the childbearing year: in prenatal classes, at births, in homes. Over and over, I saw how babies and parents are designed to be together.
Nature plans for success. You, as a healthy person, are an important part of that success.
My first inspiration was at the Women’s Needs clinic, part of the Haight-Ashbury Free Medical Clinic. From that experience, I became a childbirth educator and DONA certified doula. It was clear that, especially in the early weeks, families need accurate, consistent information and realistic plans for postpartum and breastfeeding. In 2009, I was certified as an IBCLC.
Meeting families in their homes, in community spaces, at a birth center or hospital are all important venues. I begin with families wherever they are. Every family has it’s own goals and structure. With patience and clear information, you can figure out what will work best for you.
Each of us can advocate for positive breastfeeding policies that will benefit all families.
What is an IBCLC?
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
The IBCLC credential is the only internationally recognized accreditation for lactation consultants. Of the 14 other certifications for lactation education, the IBCLC is the most rigorous.
Qualifying for the IBCLC exam requires college level courses, lactation specific education and up to 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience (meeting mothers and babies one-on-one). Then there’s the international exam to pass, which I have done. Since 2009, I’ve been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
I’m current in CPR certification and taught Infant, Child and Adult CPR for seven years.
I’ve had two doses and a booster of the Covid vaccine.
