I’m Robin Snyder-Drummond, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I help families with any of their concerns about breastfeeding and providing breast milk to their child. The best part of my job is knowing families can relax and enjoy their baby.
I’m located in Ellsworth, Maine.
For over twenty five years, I met with families during the childbearing year: in prenatal classes, at births, in homes. Over and over, I saw how babies and parents are designed to be together.
Nature plans for success. You, as a healthy person, are an important part of that success.
My first inspiration was teaching and supporting families as a certified childbirth educator and DONA certified doula. It was clear when I visited families at home that, especially in the first weeks, families needed accurate information and realistic plans for postpartum and breastfeeding.
To best address breastfeeding concerns, I earned my certification as an IBCLC in 2009 and focused on breastfeeding guidance in the comfort of one’s home. I worked with LCHomeVisits.com until moving to Ellsworth in July 2019. (If you’re in MA, you can still contact them.)
I begin with the family’s own goals. With patience and clear information, we can figure out what works best for you.
Here in Ellsworth, we can schedule an office consultation through Anchored Women’s Health.
Each visit is 60-90 minutes. We’ll review your concerns, come up with a plan and you’ll receive a written review to help you remember what we discussed. Most insurance will cover these visits. Double check with them first.
I also advocate for positive breastfeeding policies with the Maine State Breastfeeding Coalition.
What is an IBCLC?
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
The IBCLC credential is the only internationally recognized accreditation for lactation consultants. Of the 14 other certifications for lactation education, the IBCLC is the most rigorous.
Qualifying for the IBCLC exam requires college level courses, lactation specific education and up to 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience (meeting mothers and babies one-on-one). Then there’s the international exam to pass, which I have done. Since 2009, I’ve been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
I’m current in CPR certification and taught Infant, Child and Adult CPR for seven years.
I’ve had two doses and a two boosters of the Covid vaccine.
