Finding A Mothers’ Group

Every Wednesday morning, there was coffee brewing and a cake on the table. Women filled our living room, the kids played on the floor. This was my mother’s weekly ‘sewing circle’ that I enjoyed as a child.

This is what I needed as a new mother and a ‘seasoned’ parent. I had to create this circle of mothers. To help you, I’ve listed some resources here. Call it a support group, a gathering, circle … it’s friendly, familiar guidance. It takes a village to raise a child, always has, always will.

I’ve listed free, informal drop-in groups for breastfeeding moms for each day of the week.  Those listed with a dot  •  are breastfeeding groups facilitated by an IBCLC (Board certified Lactation Consultant).

Several days, several locations: Nursing Mothers’ Council Gatherings meet monthly and are offered on the North Shore, Greater Boston area and Central and Western Massachusetts!  Check out the website to find one near you.
