Tuesday November 2 Event

Kristen Hayward and I are having an informal class again this Tuesday, November 1, 2022. We’ll be talking about How To Help. This talk is from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The aim is to answer questions you, a grandparent, family or friend, may have about how to be helpful to a family in early postpartum.

Often, when I tell women that I am an IBCLC, they usually say “I wish I had known you when I had my babies.” Many times I have clarified, even decades later, their confusion about breastfeeding and answer the questions they had then. Even women who are seventy, eighty years old still have that memory of needing help.

These first weeks postpartum are a very sensitive time. Even seasoned parents are learning and they are tired. So you need to be respectful, listen to their needs, and know what you can do. And with the Internet, there can be too many resources for information. Frankly, there are too many easy answers. That’s why Kristen and I are presenting this.

We will explain the fundamentals to help you understand the biology of early breastfeeding and postpartum. We’ll also review traditions across the globe that support a new mother and child, warning signs for the mother or baby’s well-being and reliable family resources for further help.

Let us know if you’re planning to come to our talk. Bring a friend if you’d like. If you have other questions, you can contact either one of us.
We look forward to meeting you.
